How are you doing? Last week I was invited to speak in a panel at Syster P's website relaunch event along side two fantastic social media guru's and influencers.
So I wanted to share a bit of what we talked about and my thoughts on the subject, let me know what you think below👇🏾...
Building a brand on social media doesn’t really have to be that difficult. Everyone has their own unique story and everyone is 100% unique in their own way. So creating inspirational content for me really just means telling your own story, telling who you are and telling you what you're going through. Because ultimately people follow people. I mean they follow you because they think you are relevant to them, that you are inspiring in their eyes and that your content speaks to them based on what they need and what they are experiencing or going through in their lives right there and then. So the best thing you can do is to just be yourself and dare to be a tiny bit personal, but maybe not private.
This whole thing about being personal online I think is really up to each and every single one of us, but I also think there's a beauty in daring to share some things you may feel are tough in your everyday life. Because just showing the fun part of life doesn’t really give a true picture about life’s endless ups and downs, which are completely okay. What I've learned on the other hand is to differentiate the "personal stuff" from the "Private stuff". But where do you draw the line? I mean you do not need to tell every little detail of your life and definitely not sensitive subjects, but finding the fine line between these two in your own perspective is something I think is key for everyone on social media to be aware of. So I wanted to give you one question that you can ask yourself in order to find and set the boundary between Personal and Private.
However, I want you to know that in the end it's all up to you how far YOU want to go and how much you want to share.
Is what I'm thinking of sharing something I wouldn't mind the whole world find out? And is it ok if it gets into wrong hands, for instance in the hands of a stalker? In the end, you really do not know who will read your posts once you've posted it on social media so….
If your answer is NO - DO NOT POST IT
If your answer is YES - then you can consider whether you should post it or not.
Aside from the interesting panel discussion, we had a great time mingling and shopping through their amazing jewellery collection as you can see in the pictures.😍
Do you think about different issues before posting things on social media like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, or blogs?
Stay you! 💖
